Dress Code
CARNEGIE STUDENTS ARE EXPECTED TO DRESS APPROPRIATELY AT SCHOOL
All students’ clothing MUST meet our general dress code guidelines. Carnegie’s basic standard for students is to dress as if they were coming to work and to take pride in their appearance. All clothing must fit, not be gang style, and pants should not bag or sag excessively. School is a place of business; education is the student’s job. For school and safety reasons, we depend on parental support in controlling dress standards.
The following dress code guidelines are enforced daily:
Shirts / Blouses:
- Shirts must have sleeves two inches or longer.
- No tank tops or spaghetti straps, mesh skirts, bathing suits, or bare midriffs.
- All tops must reach the top of the pants, shorts, or skirt, with no skin showing.
- Undergarments may not show.
Pants, Walking Shorts, or Skirts:
- No excessive sagging.
- Must be hemmed. No seams are to be cut – inner or outer.
- Walking shorts are acceptable. Short shorts and short skirts are not acceptable. Shorts and socks that touch are also not acceptable.
- Pajama pants are not acceptable.
- Undergarments may not show.
Belts:
- A belt should be worn with pants or walking shorts so undergarments do not show.
- No part of the belt may be hanging down.
- Belt buckles may NOT have letters or insignias on them.
- Belts with spikes are not allowed.
Shoes:
- Shoes with a sole and back / back strap must be worn at all times.
- Open-toe shoes or soft-soled slippers are not allowed.
- Colored, thick, gang-style shoelaces are not allowed
Head Gear:
- Caps, hats, headbands, bandanas, sunglasses, combs, hair picks, scarves, hairnets, or do-rags are not appropriate for school and should be left at home.
- Hoods should not be worn inside or outside of class.

Inappropriate Logos:
